Remembrance Day 2014

Hi everybody,

I think that all of us have been affected in some way by the terrible tragedies against Canadians in the last few days.  I can think of no greater tribute to those that continue to protect our way of life than to attend a Remembrance Day ceremony.

Should you hear of other events, please do let me know and I'll post them here.

Don't forget that Scouts Canada has a number of great resources for preplanned programming including Jumpstarts.

And let me finish this blog post with some poignant words as to why Scouting is important to me:
“Let us go forth from here fully determined that we will develop among ourselves and our youth, a comradeship through the worldwide spirit of the Scout brotherhood, so that we may help to develop peace and happiness in the world and goodwill among men.”
—B.-P. at the First World Jamboree, 1920

You guys are amazing!

You know, I keep hearing about all the cool things that our youth are doing in our programs and these things really get me stoked about Scouting!

Did you know?

Did you know that there is a composite group from Windsor and Essex areas that are working on going to WJ15 in Japan?  If you are interested, they are having regular monthly meetings at the Windsor/Essex Scout Service Centre - take a look at the calendar for more information!  They will need some help with fundraising (if you thought that CJ was pricey.... :) so be sure to listen for opportunities to help!

Did you know that we have a Scouting youth member raising funds to build a park in Lasalle in memorial of his friend who passed away after having a brain tumour?  More information on how you might consider helping our Scouting youth towards his goal will be coming soon!

Did you know that the 63rd Scouts have been given a sailboat to build?  Check out the blog of their build here.

Have you heard that there are a number of groups that now have a Group Youth Commissioner including the 95th Lasalle and the 35th Tecumseh?  If you'd like more information, contact the Area Youth Commissioner via SCWindsorAYN@gmail.com.

If you know of other cool stuff that I'd get geeked about, please let me know.  I look forward to seeing you all out and doing cool stuff!
